When I mention the words "track lighting", my clients get a painful look on their faces. They are remembering back to the 70"s when track lighting was so ugly, one could not help but focus on it. I am here to say that track lighting has has an amazing update in the last 3 decades. There are now stunning options in cable lights and mono-rail lighting.

Mono-rails work with a single rail that stands off from the ceiling with ridged stand-offs or cables. The stand-offs work great if you want to have the mono-rail tight to your ceiling. The cables allow for you to drop the rail to an height that you choose. The really neat thing about this type of track is that is bends. You can create curves and circles to really have some fun with your lighting. This also allows for proper placement of the track heads depending on your furniture layout.
Mono-rails can be low volt or line volt lighting. Line volt "plugs" right into your electrical system as it is and the low volt needs a transformer to "talk" properly with your electrical. The track heads come in so many varieties that you could spend a day looking at them. They allow for either simple functional lights, colorful glass pendants or whimsical options. You can really have some fun

Cable Lighting which goes by the Tech Lighting trade name “Kable Lite” is just pretty darn cool. This type of system can slip into older style homes where you do not have the ability to put recessed can lights in the ceiling. I have placed this type of lighting into a vaulted, wooden, hand-painted ceiling without damaging the ceiling at all.

Cable Lighting

This type of lighting has such a low key presence that it does not fight with the architecture. With this system there are two cables that span a distance and may be attached to the ceiling or wall. This also work amazingly well when you have a really high ceiling and need to get light closer to a seating area. The cables may be suspended from any height on the wall as long as you meet code for ceiling height. You do not want to whack people in the head with your lighting, it gets really hot! Again the cable light track heads range from functional all the way to super whimsical.

Kable Lites in church

So please put to rest your horror at track lighting. I promise there will not be any huge track heads that blight your ceiling!

I am so excited to be debuting my first product design for the home. To me home is about unique joy and each person has a different voice.I have designed a feature display element that has the ability to speak in many voices. I named them Suspended Discs. These clean and contemporary elements allow for a dynamic visual display in any room or act as a side table or night stand.

The Suspended Disc allows you to display featured collectibles in your home effortlessly and with style. Another incredible use for these discs are as side tables or night stands. Why not suspend your side table instead of taking up precious floor space? The discs will also be a statement piece in any living room as a floating side table even if your home is spacious.

They may be fabricated in many sizes and are powder coated in a silver finish (the color of stainless steel). The finish is also perfect for outdoor applications. Your outdoor living spaces also deserve unique display discs! Custom colors and sizes available by special order.

I just love to organize and redo rooms. I am one of those people that gets excited to reorganize samples, paperwork, files and anything in general. The good news for me is I got to do just that! I have redone my studio space at Glimpse.

I now have a dedicated space for just Lynle Ellis Designs within Glimpse. Now people that come into Glimpse can also "glimpse" my interior design portfolio photos, fabric samples, carpet and tile samples. Interior design products are interesting and colorful to look a and my thoughts were that they would be a nice addition to the items in Glimpse.

In the upcoming months I will be adding some exciting new interior design products to Glimpse. I will have displays for gorgeous drapery hardware that would standout as something special in any room. I will be bringing in stunning stone hardware for cabinetry, interior doors and shower doors. Imagine having an amethyst or pyrite cabinet pulls in your Kitchen!

The steel discs will work great as a side table for a room with little floor space or a really cool contemporary look.I am also in the process of designing a collection of laser cut headboards, that I hope to have out by next year.

I have added a new monthly event at Glimpse called the “GoSee” Gallery Event. The GoSee will happen on the 3rd Saturday of each month and run for a month.I am scheduled all the way through until next fall!

Keep and eye out for our new look. Lynle Ellis Designs is also getting an update. A very exciting year!
